short evening update...
Met with the Neurologist tonight. He showed us the CT scan. The body is such an amazing thing. It was really wild to see the "shift". The doctor really cant determine anything right now until the swelling comes down. He said that this could be another week. At least that is the hope. In the mean time, we just wait and hope that it doesnt increase anymore. More in the morning...

I love this song, and I have been praying it for you this week. I hope it encourages you like it always does me.
"I will worship You in the midnight hour.
I will worship You when I'm in the fire.
I will worship You when all hope seems gone.
I will stand and proclaim that You are my God.
I will worship You.
I know that You are strong.
I know You're more than able
To save me from whatever
Ever comes my way.
I know You are a healer.
I know You can deliver.
I know that You can rescue me.
But even when I cannot see Your hand
When You move in a way
That I would not have planned
Still I will worship You."
We're so thankful for your faith and your trust in the Lord even in really hard days and midnight hours. Thanks for sharing your hearts during this time and for how your lives are touching so many others. In our prayers,
Ron and Minda
To the entire Maley family,
We are friends of Michelle Petrey who have been through some very similiar yet different circumstances. Michelle sent me a prayer message and your blog so I hope you don't mind me reading and responding. I am here to tell you that you have hope and lots of hope! Our story I will keep short, but offer so you know we have been in similiar shoes. Our 10 yr old daughter had a brain abscess attack on 2 different occassions. She was in the pediatric ICU for 30 days and in a drug induced coma for over over a week. She is fine now and with Michelle's help is back swimming competitively and living a normal life.
My hope in this message is to give you some faith and insight about the potential road ahead.
I agree with your doctors that if you get caught up in the numbers on a daily basis it will drive you crazy. These are their numbers which they use as a measurement for future treatment. It doesn't mean a thing when he is recovered. It only caused us to worry more about things we can't control. Trust they know what they are doing and modern medicine is an amazing thing.
Believe he knows you are there and can hear you. Our daughter months after would say things like, "dad remember when...." when she was in a coma. I don't understand it, but he knows you are there!
Learn to celebrate the successes and forget the rest. This is a long, and I mean long recovery. The body does amazing things, especially when in a coma state. Typically, they have taken away all the tasks the brain needs to worry about except to heal. This is good, even as hard as it is to accept. Every positive moment, every new day, is another day he is healing. Celebrate this!
Lastly, learn the hardest lesson. There is not much we can do but have faith and pray to help him. This is the most helpless any of us will ever feel, but all we can do is rely on modern medicine and GOD!
We are praying for him and your entire family. I hope this information helps and remember to stay strong as a family. He can feel if not hear you. He needs you!
God Bless
